Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer

Major Recruitment are proudly working in partnership with a well recognised global brand at their site in Cardiff.

Due to growth, we are looking for a Multi-Skilled Engineer to join the team on a permanent basis , covering the shift rotation off 6am-6pm and 6pm to 6am (2on 2off, 3on, 3off)

The Role:

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive fault-finding on a wide range of automated machinery and plant equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical breakdowns to ensure minimal downtime and optimum production efficiency.
• Support continuous improvement projects and root cause analysis to drive engineering performance and equipment reliability.
• Work closely with Engineering Shift Team Leaders and Production colleagues to support manufacturing KPIs.
• Fault find and interpret through PLC systems.
• Ensure all work is conducted in line with site health & safety and food safety standards, maintaining full compliance with internal and external regulations.
• Contribute to a culture of ownership, accountability, and high standards across the site.

About You:

• Proven experience in a multi-skilled engineering role, preferably with an electrical bias.
• Strong working knowledge of automated production equipment, with sound fault-finding skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment – food or beverage sector experience is desirable but not essential.
• Experience with PLCs.
• Recognised engineering qualifications (NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent)
• A team player with excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and a continuous improvement mindset.
